Richard E Hodan

Richard E Hodan passed peacefully on a rainy Sunday night, July 13, 2025, at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Flower Mound, TX at the age of 81.

Richard was born on May 8, 1944, in Fort Morgan, CO to John and Audrey Hodan. While he spent his early years there, tough financial circumstances prompted his family to move to Willoughby, OH for several years before returning to Colorado for high school. After graduating from West High School in 1962, he went to work logging and skidding in western Colorado. 

In 1965, Richard would marry the love of his life, Amy Miller, and they would embark on a journey that would last for the next 60 years. After working several years in the logging industry, he would transition to carpentry in Thornton, CO. In 1974, they would settle in Adams County, to what Richard often referred to as “The place most should be raised”. He would soon build a reputation as a kind and generous soul who cared deeply for his family, and community.

In 2017, Richard and Amy would move to Denton County, TX to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, John and Audrey Hodan, and his sister, Christina Johnson.

He is survived by his wife Amy Hodan; his two sons and daughter, Danny Hodan, Jackson Hodan, Sarah Hodan; and grandchildren: Kennedy, Tabor, Rebekah, Jenny, and Nina.

Richard's kindness, generosity, and good sense of humor will live on in the hearts of his family for generations.

A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, July 25th at 9:00 A.M. at Peoples Funereal Home and Chapel; 416 McKenzie Street, Lewisville, Texas.

Funeral services will follow at 10:00 A.M. with Diana Chaplin and Lynn Stevenson officiating. The burial will take place two days later on July 27th at 10:00 A.M. - Olinger Funeral, Cremation and Cemetery in Thornton, CO; 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229.
